The specialist is confident that the pandemic will end next year.
Rinat Maksyutov, General Director of the State Scientific Center “Vector” of Rospotrebnadzor, which is developing a vaccine, believes that the coronavirus pandemic will end next year. True, the virus will still not go anywhere.
As Maksyutov said, the pandemic will decline when a significant part of the world’s population falls ill, or if sufficient herd immunity is formed with the help of a vaccine. For example, in Russia for this, it is necessary to vaccinate half of the population against coronavirus.
He noted that waiting for the disappearance of SARS-CoV-2 “by magic” is not worth it – it’s impossible. But, according to the expert, the pandemic will soon be under control.
“The virus will persist, but the pandemic itself will go away, I am sure that in 2021,” TASS quotes Maksyutov.
More than 62 million people have already fallen ill in the world, in Russia, there are more than 2.2 million cases.
Earlier, deadly complications of the coronavirus were named, which are often found in those who have been ill. Those who are on treatment are also in particular danger – with coronavirus, the risk of heart attack increases.
